Swedish portrait and fine art photographer Therese Asplund has been working professionally since 2006, building a career defined by meticulous craftsmanship, expressive lighting, and a deep commitment to storytelling through portraiture.

I walk through life wearing my photography glasses. Inspiration is everywhere, and my mind is constantly filled with ideas waiting to become images.

The Nikon Z8 feels like it was made for me. The size, the fast eye AF, and how user-friendly it is make it my perfect creative tool.

Therese Asplund

At the heart of Therese Asplund's work is an enduring obsession with light. Whether shaping it with flash, working with natural light, or combining both, she approaches lighting not as a technical exercise but as a visual language, one that reveals character, evokes emotion, and gives each portrait its narrative depth. Her curiosity drives constant experimentation, and she approaches every shoot as an opportunity to learn, regardless of how many years she has spent behind the camera. Above all, she believes that portrait photography is a collaboration built on trust and human connection, and it is that shared creative experience that continues to fuel her work. Asplund has been shooting with Nikon cameras for as long as she can remember, and her formal relationship with the brand began in 2012 when she was invited to teach at Nikon School in Sweden. Today she shoots with the Nikon Z8, Nikon Z7II, Nikon Z6III, and Nikon Z50, pairing them with lenses including the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8, Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8, and Nikkor Z MC 50mm f/2.8. The Nikon Z8 holds a particular place in her kit for its size, speed, and intuitive handling in real-world portrait sessions.
