Daisy Gilardini is a conservation photographer who specializes in the Polar Regions, with a particular emphasis on Antarctic wildlife and North American bears. She is from Switzerland originally, and is now based in Vancouver, Canada.

Photography is not just an art form. It’s one of the most important and powerful communications tools we have. It speaks a universal language, understood by everyone, regardless of colour, creed, nationality or culture.

 

When it comes to wildlife photography, knowledge of your subject and equipment are crucial elements for success. Your camera must become an extension of your body and you need to operate it without even thinking. You need to be fast and anticipate the subject behaviour in order to capture the magic moment.

 

I work in some of the most challenging environments on earth and therefore I need to rely on extremely trustworthy and sturdy equipment. Nikon has never disappointed me.
