Better image quality
- RED colour science comes to H.265
H.265 recording now supports Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB. Benefit from compact file sizes with high colour-grading latitude.
- High ISO noise control in H.265 recording
For greater control over your output, four levels of ISO noise reduction (Off/Low/Normal/High) are now selectable in H.265/Log3G10 and H.265/N-Log recording, as well as in ProRes 422 HQ/N-Log
- Black-level fluctuations suppressed
Black-level fluctuation is supressed between frames and the flicker visible in dark areas is reduced. More consistent shadows improve image quality and give you greater flexibility in post-production
Improved operability

- Focus peaking display in R3D NE with LUT
Focus peaking will be visible while recording in the R3D NE format with an LUT applied. You’ll be able to nail focus while previewing the final look.
- Output 3D LUTs via HDMI
Firmware 2.00 also readies the ZR to output the LUT you’re using via HDMI. You or your client will be able to monitor a colour graded look on an external display.¹
More custom controls

- Command dial customisation
ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, white balance, and colour temperature can now be assigned to the command dials, so you can respond more quickly to changing conditions.
- 3D LUT/View Assist via Fn button
Download firmware 2.00 and you can assign use an Fn button to quickly switch the ZR monitor view between the LUT you’ve chosen and the flat log profile.²
¹Applying a 3D LUT to HDMI limits output to FHD. At 60p/50p the output frame rate remains 60p/50p, but the image refresh rate is halved. HDMI disconnection may occur depending on video settings (no disconnection when applied to rear monitor).
²View Assist can be switched during video recording, but the 3D LUT itself cannot be switched on or off.
